Its been warming up. Slowly but surely. With the warmer weather brings the ability to prime and spray plastic ponies. Bonus.
So, feeling rather boring and very non creative, I decided to paint. I wasn't in the mood for the slow progression and the "what to do" 15 minutes between sealer coats, so acrylic it was. Now, acrylic and painting horses with, well, paint isn't my strong suit. But a fairly simple, not too detailed leopard appy seemed easy enough to get good results from.
Starting with a model that I never really enjoyed owning, the Schleich Paint Horse stallion.
He was then prepped, primed, given his base spots, gone over, then detailing was done. I didn't take any progress photos, but here are his beauty shots. He still needs his final spray of matte spray.
Introducing Mr. Busybody
He has the cutest nose!!
Um, hoof details. Not really
His little lips!
I do quite enjoy him. He has a lot of character and now I have a horse that I can appreciate. Not just something I picked up at the tack store. His eyes are bad. Just plain badly done. But, his pinking came out great! And his little nose! Did I mention his little kissy spots??
I had the camera and everything out, so a mini photoshoot with some little ones happened...
Plenty more were taken, but I doubt that you'd like to see about 50 pictures of the same three models..
I also tried some weaving. I whipped up a cardboard loom and created an... interesting piece. Has potential as a SM saddlecloth/pad.
Well, that's about it. I hope to get more painting done soon! I have quite a few SMs who need some new colour. And a classic who's becoming a chestnut overo, lets hope I get white markings down! And maybe some nicer eyes than Busybody up there!
