Fun With Tack

Today, I messed around with tack and horses. I got Black Caviar barrel racing and Ravel into Western. ") Here are a few pictures!!

The lighting was bad in the studio, so these pics were a lot more colourful in person... Even editing didn't cheer them up a lot. Sorry, guys. Also, after I cleaned up I realised that I had my camera on the wrong type of focus, so that probably contributed to the crummy-ness of these.

Ravel looks really good in rope halters. I tried for a picture. And Caviar looks really good in Western set ups and tack!

I also got around to priming the Arab foal thats' my dollar deal. He's going to be a light bay, like his original colour. Aswell, I re-primed a little Safari Arab that I've had hanging around in an a way to dark flea-bitten grey. More practise at pasteling! Yay!

Paint Pony

Recently, I've been working on a little Stablemate etchie on the Para Dressage mold. I have one side done, along with her face and legs, but have her entire off-side to do. Here are some pictures-

I've done more work on this girl since these photos were taken.
She isn't as rough anymore.

I love her a LOT! Before I didn't really pay any attention to her, her coat was rather plain and boring. But these markings make her "pop" more. Also, (as the caption above states), I've worked on her more and she isn't as rough anymore, a lot more smooth.

Guys, this is my second post in two days! Yay! I'm hoping to get into a groove, with posting every other day or more. I know I say this a lot, bit this time I'll really try!!

Also, I've been working on a nice flash bridle for Ravel. It's turning out very well! Just Tacky Glue isn't working very well with my new leather, it doesn't adhere well. I'm using Imperial Lace. Does anyone have any suggestions about what type of leather or other kind of glue works well with leather?

Grooming Tools

Today I made some little grooming items and such.  It's all kept together with a cool little purple grooming tote. It features fly spray, hoof-ointment (without labels), a brush, sponge, and hoof pick.

From left to right -  hoof-ointment (unfinished), fly-spray, hoof pick,
sponge, and brush.
I'm hoping to add another spray bottle, towel, and possibly a curry comb.
I couldn't think of any cool way to show this stuff with a model, so it's just boring old basic pictures.

Also, I'm sorry for not posting in several weeks! I've been occupied and I just haven't been in the groove, if you get what I mean. Although currently I'm making a flash bridle with a raised noseband for Ravel (talk about complex) and I have an etchie in progress (to be in next post.)

A New Crew Member

A new member joined my Plastic Pony Crew (PPC) on Sunday. A model I've been hoping to get for quite some time...

Any guesses? (You don't have much to go on, take a wild guess!)

It's Black Caviar!

She's one of my favourites. Breyer did an excellent job on her colouration, although mine doesn't have the greatest shading. They also did a great job on sculpting the Ruffian mold. I love her face and mane and tail. Her ears are nicely positioned, like her legs. I love this model so much, I made her a fleece-lined blanket. Hand sewn and everything. (to be shown in later post).  John Henry's lime green halter fits her perfectly and really looks nice. Poor John, halterless once again.

Well, I'm gonna stop going on and on about this lovely model. Here is an artsy photo of her lovelt sculpted forelock and ears.

As a Collector..

In this post I'm going to give 10 facts about me as a collector/painter/tack maker/prop maker/miniature maker!

Here goes nothing!

1. I've been collecting for about two have a half years, seriously for around one and a half.
2. My first tack stuff was made for schleich. Just halters and blankets, I became rather good at it.
3. My first custom was painted with a pompom!
4. I have around 40 models in my collection. Counting minis, schleich, breyers, no-names, and random models.
5. Currently, I'm using un-used leather shoe-lace for my lace. If it's skived well you cant notice the fuzzies! (Also, who knew it was 1/8"?!)
6. I love Maggie Bennet's (Sorry if spelling wasn't proper) Supernova resin.
7. Most of my customs are done besides eyes. I can't do eyes. It doesn't help that most of the models are Stablemate sized and under.
8. Micro and regular mini resins are some of my favorites. Sadly, my collection doesn't include any.
9. I do not like Breyer's Sham or Kennebec Count molds.
10. I have yet to master the art of jump making.

There you have it! 10 facts! Yay!! I may do ten more some other time, but that's enough for now.

Also, I'm going away for the week, so I will not be posting until next weekend. I may post something other today, or early-ish tomorrow.
