My First Bridle! (A WIP)

I finally tried my hand at bridles. This one took me the entire day to make.. But the effort was well worth it. It is still incomplete. I took some progress shots, so here they are!

Just a noseband

Sorry, my camera wouldn't focus on this one! This is the least blurry one I got! I also moved outside to work, so that's why the following photos are outdoors!

Now a bit!
Please ignore the tape! I don't have any sticky wax, so tape works just to hold it together while sizing!

Now a throat-latch
Again, please ignore the tape!

And finally, a brow-band to complete it!
I really like this bridle! I think it went very well for my first bridle! It has working tongued buckles! I still need to add two more keepers, make reins, and then I can call it complete!! If you have any tips on how I could improve I'm always open to ideas and tips!

Action Stock Horse!

Here is my cute lil' Action Stock Horse foal custom I've been blabbing about!

He is done in acrylics! I was going to wait until I got some pastels to do him, but got antsy and did him in acrylic. I love his two coloured eyes! I'm not a very good painter, but this boy did turn out great! As you can see, he lacks a mane and tail, I'm gonna figure something out... Constructive criticism is appreciated!

Speaking of customs, I have four more horses to do! Two stablemates, a Safari LTD Arabian foal, and a classic pony. The classic, who is Merrylegs from Black Beauty, has a missing back leg. I'm going to try my hand at sculpting and see what we get! If anyone has any tips on sculpting legs please leave a note!! These horses are going to be done in pastel, if I ever manage to go out and get some!

Hoppy Easter!

Hoppy Easter everyone! Here is a photo of a pretty cool Easter egg I took!

Just to make this horsey, here is the blue roan G2 Warmblood I've been working on! He's close to being done, just needs eyes and I need to go over the legs, mane, tail, and head to go over the roaning!

I like him a lot! On the topic of customs, I'm nearly finished my Action Stock Horse Foal! I will upload photos when he is finished!

Hope everyone is having (or had!) a good Easter!

Fly Mask

A while ago I made a fly mask for my traditional model, Ravel. It turned out very well!!

Today I started my custom on the Action Stock Horse Foal mold. I was going to wait until I got some pastels and pastel him, but I decided to do him in acrylic. Lets say I really hate brush strokes.... But his colour is very nice! I will be loading photos and his own post later this week end!

Rope halter.

Here is a rope halter I made for Sato! It's my first one and worked out very well! I'm sorry I couldn't get a photo of the other side but, but it looks like this side but without the know and with two strands going behind his ears!

I have redone the leadrope, and it looks much better now!

Here is an indoor photo of Sato in the stall I made! Please excuse the bad background!

I have photos from an outdoor snow photo shoot with Sato and Newsworthy, so on every post there might be a picture or two from that! Also, I will be uploading photos of my collection and WIPs (works I progress)! Yay for long weekends!

Happy Easter everyone! Have a happy and horsey weekend!

Interesting Jump Standards

Today, I made some jump standards, they are still unfinished and I still have to make the jump poles as well as jump cups (I'm on the hunt for a tutorial on those!!)! Here they are.

The photograph is sort of off angle, sorry!

I'm also working on a custom blue roan on the G2 Stablemate Warmblood mold! I've done him using the splatter technique. He's rather cute and I was just playing around while doing him but he's coming along well! I'm also starting a custom on the Action Stock Horse Foal mold. I think a bay paint is going to be his colour!

Leather Halter

This is a leather halter I made for my traditional model, Sato. I skived and dyed the leather, then putting it all together held it's own challenge. I need to order some three slotted rings from Rio Rondo, as I do like the more realistic aspect.
The other side looks much like this one, but without the buckle. I wasn't able to get a good photo.

I do like it very much and think I went well for my first try at skiving and this type of halter. There is even little "stich marks" on each peice of leather in either side, I did them all my hand. The time and effort really paid off!! The crown piece (part that goes over the head and behind the ears) is made like on a real horse halter. I think a rolled throat latch might add a more realistic effect, as well as three slotted halter rings, but for now this is going to have to do.

Tack

I make halters, leads, boots and wraps, blankets, and much more! I'm always looking to expand my tack making skills! Saddles are on my list, but patterns are VERY difficult and nerve wracking! I do not consider any of my tack LSQ (live show quality), but I do think that it's realistic and well made. I make all my tack myself.. Stick around for photos and info about my tack!!

A bit about me...

This is my new blog for my model horses and my model horse tack. As well, I will include some of my (model) photography! My customs, tack, and collection will be updated and posted! Feel free to comment your opinions, constructive criticism is appreciated! Please stay tuned for pictyures of tack and models very soon!!
